Elon Musk and the Default Plan

There’s really no “conspiracy” among the elites. They’re not having secret meetings where they evilly plot — they are evilly plotting right out in the open. There are reports from Davos every year, where they basically plot in public. They constantly talk to the press about their evil plots. They do have a default plan, and they have talked about it enough that they’re all basically on the same page, and we can see what their plan is.

The first part of the plan is that nothing can fundamentally change, which is why Biden was their favorite in the last presidential election. Capitalism must continue propping them up, making them more and more wealthy, so they can implement the other portions of their plan. This is the most important element of the default plan — nothing can fundamentally change.

That first part of the plan creates a problem because global climate change and massive wealth inequality are going to create a crisis that will destroy civilization as we know it over the next 30 years or so. The elites know this, and so there is a second part to their plan: The bunker mindset. They’ve all come up with ways to weather collapse while the rest of us die in the chaos. The most popular solution is to buy a bunker in New Zealand, which they’ve decided is the safest place — though some of them are building bunkers closer to home, like the Waltons who have a bunker near Bentonville, Arkansas (they are claiming it is a data center but no one is allowed inside to see what it really is). The only problem they’re still trying to work through regarding Part 2 of the plan is how to control their security detail after “The Event”.

These super-rich assholes aren’t any smarter than other people, and like any group of people, some of them are ding dongs. Specifically, I’m talking about this bizarre fantasy where some elites think they’re going to escape to a new civilization on Mars while Earth burns.

The idea is to do it just like the colonization of the Americas. First, send out pioneers to clear the way; many of them will die horribly and they will all suffer, but the survivors will have earned their place in the New World. Then, once things are comfortable, the Overlords who financed the whole thing will arrive and rule over them in amazing luxury. This all is stupid because any colony on Mars will require constant re-supply of certain resources from Earth, and because shipping between planets is so expensive, Mars will never be financially independent — even if the plan wasn’t that all civilization on Earth will be destroyed, and thus unavailable for trade. Unlike the colonization of the Americas, the invaders aren’t heading to a lush paradise where there are existing natives who have meticulously manicured the land to provide a bounty of food. Unlike the Earth, Mars will never be able to have an atmosphere.

There are other ding-dong aspects to the plans of the elites like creating a race of AI slaves and becoming immortal through this or that tech.

That’s when it hit me: at least as far as these gentlemen were concerned, this was a talk about the future of technology. Taking their cue from Elon Musk colonizing Mars, Peter Thiel reversing the ageing process, or Sam Altman and Ray Kurzweil uploading their minds into supercomputers, they were preparing for a digital future that had a whole lot less to do with making the world a better place than it did with transcending the human condition altogether and insulating themselves from a very real and present danger of climate change, rising sea levels, mass migrations, global pandemics, nativist panic, and resource depletion. For them, the future of technology is really about just one thing: escape.
